ESL Certified and Ready to Teach in China

Rick and I just finished a two week training course at the Kennedy Center on campus at BYU. The course consisted of ESL training, Chinese language, Chinese history, etc. The certificate that we received was for 100 hours of training and we thoroughly enjoyed the time that we spent with all of the other participants, the professors and the staff at the center. It has been one week since we finished the course and Rick and I are still recovering. We are definitely on the downside of our primes!

This is a picture of us receiving our certificates from Jeff Ringer who is the Director of the Kennedy Center.

We are supposed to start teaching classes in China at the South China University of Technology (SCUT) on September 21. However we still don't have our our paperwork from SCUT to apply for our visas. Our flight arrangements won't be made until we have our visas so we are still up in the air!  A favorite expression used by everyone who has been part of the China Teachers program is TIC (this is China) and we are already using this expression with real meaning!
